In Germany, the traditional German recipes play a major role during the holidays and celebrations. Food and recipes vary from region to region and some foods are linked to traditions and culture of Germany.

The most famous of German food is sausage and sauerkraut. However, different types and specialties vary from region to region and most of them are closely guarded secrets handed down from generation to generation.
